David looks around the grounds of the old church and sighs.
He trusts Amaya when she says this is the best place to set up, and he certainly isn't bucking the Ithaeur in a situation this spiritually fucked up with out damn good reason. But as nice as the atmosphere is, the Peace energy coming out of this hallow is going to make keeping his various spirit bargains damn difficult. Never mind the overwhelming lack of defensive potential around here.
He types a quick message into his phone: we're here, all good. com check on the 6.
"Well, here we are. Let's get some recon and see what we have."

The new cub, if one could call a man of his age that, leaned nearby against a headstone of the church. He himself rather liked the whole quiet tranquility. that town over there though.. he didn't much like that.

"Amaya, probably goes without saying, but make what ever arrangement you can with our allies that tagged along. I'm not sure I'm comfortable trying to work with any of the spirits around here, given the stories we've been hearing."
"Ralf, your visions have anything to say about this place?"
Another look over the area gave him on solid certainty, "I think I'd prefer we fort up in the church each night. Sleep in Urshal. Any other thoughts?"
Damn idea went against every military instinct he had, but it felt right. Couple years hanging around Amaya and Jack had taught him to trust those feelings.

"I can understand how you'd feel that way, but frankly the stories give us more reason to trust the spirits OUT here. The spirits inside may be twisted, insane or worse, but the ones outside would very much like all of this to go away. Most are even willing to work WITH us if we can make that happen, so we've got a lot of spiritual leeway here."
Amaya had been sitting quietly by the Hallow, letting herself take in the Peace it radiates. Now that she'd gotten a personal look at the place, she knew they'd all need all the peace they could get on this job. "But don't worry, I've set our tag-alongs to work already, making some more secure contacts with the local members of their choirs. We're off to a good start, base wise."
"Indeed we are!" a jovial voice sounded from behind David, though not close enough to imply any real sneaking about. Jack continued his report as he continued his walking, "I know you're worried about defensibility, you always are after all, but from a look around, this really is the best we can get under the circumstances. The good and bad news of this place is just how empty it is, apart from the town, no one around for a good ways at least."
